残念【ざんねん】

Definition: 意味
regrettable, disappointing
- Used to express feelings of regret or disappointment when something does not happen as expected or hoped.
- Can also convey a sense of pity or sorrow for someone else’s misfortune or an unfortunate situation.
- Often translated as “What a pity!” or “That’s too bad!” in casual conversation.
- Implies a sense of unfulfilled expectation or a missed opportunity.
- It can be used to politely decline an invitation or express sadness about an outcome.
