Definition: 意味
to cry (of animals), to sing (of birds), to make a sound
- Refers to the sounds made by animals,
- such as a dog’s bark or a cat’s meow.
- Commonly used for birds singing or chirping,
- and insects like cicadas making noise.
- Important distinction: 鳴く is for non-human animals;
- 泣く (naku) is for humans crying.
- Emphasizes the natural vocalization or sound production
